Aloha, I am Nathan!

I’m Nathan Clark, if we are being formal. But most people just call me Nate. I was born and raised in Honolulu, right here in the heart of Oahu. So, you could say Island life’s in my blood – sun, surf and a lot of gardening on the side.

Every summer break, even Christmas time, I was out in the yard with Mom, hands in the dirt, where I learnt to watch things grow slowly but steadily. I have been into plants ever since I was small.

My Mom says that when I was a toddler, I’d cry nonstop until she brought me into the garden. I would just sit there, pick a few grasses, sometimes even eat a little mud. And my twin sister? She was the total opposite. That little girl couldn’t stand the feel of mud and absolutely hated it.

These days, I work full-time as an assistant professor at a local college. I teach Economics, a subject that I have always loved. Monday through Friday, I am busy in the classroom.

But then comes the weekend, and that’s my time. I head out to the garden, get my hands dirty, and sometimes jot down my thoughts here. It’s my way of slowing down in this fast-paced world.
